Seeing Red In The Kitchen
It's a red letter day in the kitchen as our head chef Chris Gray has ensured our two AA Red Rosette Award following an undercover visit by an AA Inspector.
The long-established rosette scheme celebrates successful cooking at different levels across the UK and rosettes are awarded based on one or more visits by an AA inspector.
This award is an accolade for our head chef Chris Gray, who only took over the reins in the kitchen earlier this year.
The undercover inspectors tour the country trying an entire meal at the establishments and assessing it.
AA Rosettes are solely awarded by AA hotel and restaurant Inspectors, and external influences from hotels, restaurants or other guides are not taken into account.
A two red rosette award is granted to excellent restaurants that aim for, and achieve, higher standards and better consistency. Inspectors report that a greater precision is apparent in the cooking, and there is obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients.
Only about 10% of restaurants nationwide are of a standard that is worthy of one rosette and above.
Hotel general manager Stephen Gow says, “Chris has quickly established himself in his head chef role and as one of Aberdeen’s most talented chefs. Chris’ approach to using fresh, locally-sourced seasonal ingredients brings a freshness to our menus in both The Gallery Bar and in the IX Restaurant. The two red rosettes award is well deserved.”
